March 2022 (Updates + NMR)

This is my 100th post! 🥳

It's been 2.5 years (almost to the day!) since I started MetaLevelUp, and the act of writing and engaging ideas has improved my life a lot. Often I don't know what I think until I write it, a lesson I wish I'd learned long ago. I've written some things that haven't aged so well, but also some that I'm very proud of (I leave it to you to figure out which is which). I hope that overall I'm improving, if not in quantity then in quality. I'll keep trying, and I'm very open to feedback!

MetaLevelUp started on WordPress, but moved last year to Wix because I prefer the customization options here. But the world is changing and I shall try to keep up: I'll now host my posts also on Substack! So far it doesn't seem to onerous to post in both places, but we will see.

The main news of late is Ukraine/Russia, and I have nothing useful to say on that. I recommend Zvi and references therein as a start, but it's far from complete and it may not even be worth it to you to be up-to-date on what's going on. It would be nice if you can spare resources to support humanitarian efforts, but if that's not possible either, you may be better off focusing on your own life and ignoring this entirely for now.

I'm late to report on my New Month Resolution this month, but here's the status:

Of my three goals last month, drinking more water and Japanese practice worked great, meditation started strong and then faltered. To some extent I think things like meditation are downstream of my morning routine, so I'll work on improving this. More greens but also more reds, and fewer blues which is bad. I'll work on the Intermediates then too.

This is a kind of half-month post, so for the rest of March 2022 I will:

  1. Wake up before 7:30 AM at least twice per week, and before 8:00 AM four times per week (effort: high);

  2. Meditate at least three times per week, with at least one non-guided (silent or walking) (effort: medium);

  3. Write at least one non-update blog (effort: low);

  4. Go to the gym at least once per week (effort: low).

I'll report back next month!
